Off-Grid Self-Sufficient Shipping Container Cabin

Container cabin

As we always know the shipping containers are used for different buildings, for storage and many more. This time the mighty shipping containers got used for a self-sufficient cabin, that doesn’t need anything special so you can live independently anywhere you might want.

The unit is a 20′ upcycled shipping container that was turned into the coolest off-grid cabin. It doesn’t cost much, you can DIY if you have the right materials and even if you don’t you can find something around the house to furnish it. The cabin was built and designed as a response of the challenges that the planet is facing and as an alternative shelter or housing that will have a less negative impact on the environment.

The main feature of the cabin is that it harnesses solar and wind energy so it doesn’t rely on external energy sources, or water. It is equipped with solar panels and wind turbine that charges the batteries at all times of the day and all seasons. Everything is monitored by a phone app so you can check on the battery levels and needs all the time.

The unit is sprayed with thermal insulation, The roof is covered with galvanized corrugated steel, which extends to increase the rainwater collecting surface, that runs into a 1000 IBC tank attached on the side with the shower and bathroom.

The cabin comes fully furnished and comes with a refrigerator, water heater, appliances, smart storage, convertible sofa bed, compact stools and tables. For privacy the outdoor terrace and doors, can be easily folded to close the container.

It could be your next cabin in the woods or on the beach. Maybe just a hunting cabin or a country side escape pod. Shipping containers will always give you more than just a shelter, more than just a dream, will actually make your dream come true.
