We found the website online looking for nice places to escape, and travel, of course built from repurposed shipping containers. Their website is well built, very detailed, and ready to take your reservation for your next stay. Started with just one location, now they have 5 “boxes” where people enjoy a relaxing getaway by themselves or with friends and family.
This seems to be a successful family business, Seth and Emily, started and continued to push one another in accomplishing their goals, so in 2019, after one year of planning, they started building the first of their boxes out of 3 shipping containers, OG Box Hop. Then one after another, The Boho Box Hop, The Roca, The Hygge Box Hop and The Overlook. All made to fulfill all your needs, highest expectations from fancy to casual, from small to large, all with a good taste of interior and outside design. Let’s see more about the facilities and amenities below.
The OG Box Hop – The first of it’s kind, the OG Box was created in 2018 by owners, Emily & Seth Britt. Following intuition and taking a leap of faith, Emily and Seth created this home as a modern edge twist to the ever popular Hocking Hills region. This get-away offers 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths and a plethora of views.
– INSIDE HIGHLIGHTS: Three bedrooms with full size beds, Two full bathrooms – one on each floor, Gas fireplace, Full kitchen stocked with cookware & serving dishes, Washer and dryer, Air mattress (queen) available
– OUTSIDE HIGHLIGHTS: Large deck overlooking the ravine, Gas grill, Hot tub, Gas fire table, Rooftop patio, Outdoor shower – [not available in winter], Outdoor swing, 18.5 acres to hike and explore
The Boho Box Hop – A more intimate setting that is perfect for a couples getaway (though it sleeps four comfortably with the pull out bed on the first floor). You will have all the luxuries of a secluded getaway with solitude and peace while being only a few miles from the main highway (Route 33) and close to all that Hocking Hills has to offer.
– INSIDE HIGHLIGHTS: King size bed upstairs and full sized pull out bed on the first floor, Full bathroom with soaking tub, Wood-burning stove, Full kitchen stocked with cookware & serving dishes, Washer and dryer
– OUTSIDE HIGHLIGHTS: Large deck, Gas grill, Hot tub, Gas fire table, Chimnea, Private bedroom balcony, 18.5 acres to hike and explore
The Roca Box Hop – The Roca Box Hop is another build by the Box Hop team (Emily & Seth Britt). Roca means “rock” in Portuguese, and we couldn’t think of a more fitting name for this house, a whimsical home wedged between towering rocks in the beautiful Hocking Hills area of Southern Ohio.
– INSIDE HIGHLIGHTS: King size bed upstairs and full sized pull out bed on the first floor, Full bathroom with soaking tub, Wood-burning stove, Full kitchen stocked with cookware & serving dishes, Washer and dryer
– OUTSIDE HIGHLIGHTS: Large deck, Gas grill, Hot tub, Gas fire table, Chimnea, Private bedroom balcony, 18.5 acres to hike and explore
The Hygge Box Hop – The Hygge Box Hop is the third and largest design by Box Hop. Using 7 shipping containers, the design is laid out and created with larger groups and families in mind. The open floor plan and five bedrooms leave plenty of room to bring the party with you!
Although the Hygge is quite minimalistic, there are no luxuries spared. If you’re not out enjoying Hocking Hills, you can cozy up to one of our matching suspended wood-burning fireplaces located both inside and outside the box. We’ve also added a full glass barrel sauna nestled in an enclosed “spa area” of the deck that overlooks the ravine along with a hot tub.
When you arrive to the Hygge, take notice of the Scandi vibe and unique look – can you tell it was built with shipping containers? Wait until you see the back side where four of the bedrooms have their own private patio created from the doors of the containers. Mighty yet minimal this one.
– INSIDE HIGHLIGHTS: Five bedrooms; 3 queen size beds & 2 full size beds, Two full bathrooms – one on each floor, Two suspended wood-burning fireplaces – one inside and one outside, Full kitchen stocked with cookware & serving dishes, Washer and dryer, Air mattress (queen) available
– OUTSIDE HIGHLIGHTS: Large deck overlooking the ravine, Suspended wood-burning fireplace, Gas grill, Hot tub, Enclosed/Covered Spa Area, Sauna, 18.5 acres to hike and explore
The Overlook Box Hop – is the newest build by the Box Hop team (Emily & Seth Britt). The name speaks for itself, as it “Overlooks” the beautiful rolling acres of Hocking Hills, Ohio. Using four 40 foot shipping containers, they have transformed and recycled these once cargo containers into an experience in and of itself.
– INSIDE HIGHLIGHTS: Five bedrooms; 3 bedrooms (one a bunk room perfect for kids), 1.5 baths, and a hot tub. It is enough space to host 7-8 people
– OUTSIDE HIGHLIGHTS: Total of 75 acres, home to 2 waterfalls and a plethora of hiking possibilities right on site
The owner’s desire is to share their homes and dreams with others, to invite and encourage them to step away from life’s daily challenges, demands, routines and activities and give their minds and bodies a place of rest and solitude. Congratulations on creating such great places and we hope that they won’t stop here, and create more places to recharge and rest your bodies and souls.
